TIME TO GET YOUR LICENCE

Having completed your Handling Skills Test, you're now ready to move up to your Restricted licence.

Here's the fastest way to get there.

During a CBTA assessment, you’ll need to ride around a predefined assessment route.

Your riding skills will be assessed through the entire duration of the assessment ride.

This will include mounting and dismounting the bike.

About This Course

At any given time during the assessment, your performance in one of the following seven riding tasks will be assessed:

  1. Moving in

  2. Riding straight

  3. Riding a curve

  4. Riding through an intersection

  5. Overtaking

  6. Turning back

  7. Moving out

Your 60-minute riding skills assessment will take place in both urban and higher speed zone areas.


Riderqual recommends that every rider completes the

ACC Ride Forever subsided
'
Bronze' training course

prior to sitting this assessment.

  • Head check

  • Communication

  • Consideration/courtesy

  • Positioning

Where applicable, the following competencies will be assessed during each riding task:

  • Speed management

  • Progression

  • Stability/smoothness

  • Following distance

  • Other illegal.

While training is not a compulsory part of the approved CBTA course content, it’s highly recommended that you’re fully trained / prepared before attempting the CBTA course assessment.

Our approved CBTA assessors will be able to offer you optional training at any stage of your progression through the graduated licensing system.
